What is Chia seed (Salvia Hispanica)?
Originating in Mexico, Chia meant “power” in the Mayan language. The seeds were being cultivated the pre-Columbian era in Central and South America and for centuries they have been one of the key components of the nutrition of the Aztecs and the Maya people. Chia seeds are a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, protein and fiber.
The selection “ΕΥ” Savoidakis (“ef”) features the Chia bread
The Chia bread which consists of about 3,4% of Chia seeds (salvia hispanica) is a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids as, due to its combination of ingredients, it contains Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA): 1,33g / 100g & 0,49g / 100kcal. The ALA helps to keep healthy cholesterol levels. These benefits are gained on a daily intake of 2g of ALA that corresponds to 150g of Chia bread consumption in the context of a balanced and healthy diet. Furthermore, the Chia bread is a rich source of protein and fiber while offering a delicious mixture of: grains, cereals, sourdough rye, and barley malt. It is a healthy and tasty suggestion bearing the signing Savoidakis.
